Four Years Worth of Fun: Dance

It's hard to NOT have fun dancing, and I don't think I'm alone in thinking that because Dance Guild is Calvin's LARGEST student-run organization with just over 300 students participating each semester.

I had never taken formal dance lessons before Calvin, but I have always loved to dance and I had a feeling I would regret it if I didn't try Dance Guild at least once.

So the spring of my freshman year I nervously showed up for a Guild Girls Hip-Hop practice--and I was instantly hooked.

I loved going to practice every week and getting to know 20-30 new faces was an added bonus. When the performance dates rolled around, I was nervous but I discovered that I loved the thrill of performing on stage!

This spring I will perform in my sixth, and final, Dance Guild. Whether performing or attending as a spectator, Dance Guild is a blast and you won't want to miss it!

I'm especially excited for this Dance Guild because for the first time, I'm a choreographer!

Besides joining Dance Guild there are a bajillion ways and places to shake your groove thing. Take advantage of our awesome dance studios, or bust a move on Common's Lawn! Go line dancing at The Back Forty on Thursday nights, or swing dancing at Rosa Parks on Tuesdays. Learn how to break it down with Break Dance Club, or keep it classy with Ballroom Dance Club. Get cultured by joining or attending Rangeela, or jam on your air guitar in Airband.

Whatever you do, don't sit still. Get up and DANCE!
